Par-tee time for SNAP Charity
The esteemed Thorndon Park Golf Club hosted SNAP’s annual Golf Day once again on Friday 20th September, where 66 golfers played in teams of three, hoping to be crowned champions whilst raising money for SNAP. Throughout the gloriously sunny day, golfers played a SNAP Scramble over 18 holes.
Commemorating 30 years of the Charity, it was an extra special year to be a part of the event. The day was filled with friendly competition, and golfers enjoyed additional games, including nearest the pin, longest drive, putting competition, and play with the pros.
Local photographer, Tina Wing, provided team and tee off photos with proceeds of photo sales going to SNAP. “We are so thankful to have had Tina with us on the day. Having her professional skills and support was a very special addition to this anniversary event. She truly captured the spirit and camaraderie on the day, and the donations from the photos sold are a hugely appreciated.” said Sara Clifton, Fundraising Manager at SNAP.
During the evening, an auction was held with fantastic prizes including a two-night stay at Yewtree Cottage in the Cotswolds generously donated by Beresfords, Euro tunnel crossing from Golfholidays.com, and a wine tasting experience donated by Lady Penelope Wines. 4-ball vouchers at local golf clubs were also up for grabs, along with a tee-rific raffle prize draw. Nick Treffers, Director of New Business and Marketing at Beresfords, hosted the auction which went down a storm!
The event concluded with an awards ceremony where prizes were awarded. Congratulations to the winning team, Tin Bashers, including Kenny Banks, Anthony Smith and Adam Smith. They won second place the previous year and were very chuffed to secure the first prize. Thank you to all our golfers who took part. The day was a huge success and a record-breaking figure was raised for SNAP!
Sara said, “This was our most successful golf day to date! We are completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our sponsors, donors, and participants. Without their commitment, this event would not have been possible, and we’re excited about the lasting impact the funds raised will have on families across Essex who have a child with any additional need or disability. ” Special thanks also go to the dedicated volunteers and the team at Thorndon Park Golf Club for their outstanding support throughout the event.
